How safe is internet posting?

Postby Admin » Wed Jul 28, 2010 8:54 am

Not very! google your name or username and everything connected to those names will show up in any search engine. If in any of those links you are tied to that post, username etc you can then be IDed on all posts! Yep this means your boss, spouse, friends, coworkers, EXs, enemies, teachers and more can all see these posts. You can be fired, arrested, sued or any number of actions depending on what you post. Many legal forums can be the worst and Police and Attorneys tend to troll these boards. So how can one safely get the information you desire without causing further problems? There are some sites that do what they can to protect its users. This is one of those sites. Here are some tips to make your internet usage safer.

. Do not use same username you use elsewhere
. Do not name your self or others
. Do not name companies or businesses
. Do not name cities (states are fine and recommended)
. Do not name times or places. Even naming the day can prove harmful
. Do not link your posts to other posts or social networks
. Do not name other sites you have posted on

These are not foolproof but will make your post safer and thus safer for you
Advice given does not establish an Attorney/Client relationship. If you require legal advice seek a qualified Attorney in your area. Proud member of NSPC http://www.shopliftingprevention.org Image
