Sensormatic Tags and LP techniques

Postby Insight103 » Fri Mar 19, 2010 1:53 pm

I was recently shopping at Store Name in CT, and noticed there was tags in the dressing room on the ground. If someone got a hold of a gadget to take these tags off, what techniques do the LP take to ensure max profits? do they even know that people are able to take these things off? Does the LP actually count how many things each person brings into the dressing room (it must be hard to count on a camera)?

These policies and methods vary by store. There is no real answer

Keep in mind that when you steal, there are no rules. LP may have rules the are supposed to follow, but it does not guarantee that they will. If you have been hitting them hard and heavy, they may have authorization to take you regardless of company policy. Or some LP may disregard the rules altogether.

Other LP build large cases against suspects, saving video and evidence against you so that they can charge you with a felony.

Also, if you are caught with a tool to take tags off you will be charged with burglary, burglar tools and a bunch of other charges. These turn simple shoplifting into felonies and jail time.

They will take short cuts to doing an apprehension. You can't catch everybody that steals in a fitting room. If its suspicious then they can stop you. Say if a person goes in with 6 items and comes out with two but the bag she is carrying somehow got bigger ditch the bag because your getting a civil demand and some jail time if you don't.
